Couples Rehabs Announce 2020 Drug Overdose Statistics

CouplesRehabs.org is a national referral source for couples and individuals who seek information about treatment options. New information about overdose deaths show an alarming trend of rising numbers.

The number of drug overdose deaths in America reached an all time high as the coronavirus pandemic held the nation in its hold last springtime, new federal government data shows.

An astonishing report shows that more than 81,000 people died from an overdose. That is the highest possible number ever tape-recorded throughout a 12-month period, scientists from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.

” The disruption to life because of the COVID-19 pandemic has hit those with substance usage condition hard,” CDC Supervisor Dr. Robert Redfield claimed in an agency health advisory provided Thursday. “As we proceed the battle to end this pandemic, it’s important to not lose sight of various teams being impacted in other ways. We require to care for individuals dealing with unintentional consequences.”

The main indicator behind the record-breaking numbers appeared to be using artificial opioids such as fentanyl, which enhanced 38.4%.

Of 38 jurisdictions with offered synthetic opioid information, 37 reported rises in artificial opioid-involved overdose fatalities. In 18 of these jurisdictions, the boost was higher than 50%. Ten western states reported a more than 98% rise in synthetic opioid-involved deaths, the researchers claimed.

While opioid overdose deaths were skyrocketing, overdose deaths involving cocaine also boosted by 26.5%. Based upon earlier research study, these fatalities are likely connected to co-use or contamination of cocaine with illegally made fentanyl or heroin. On the other hand, overdose fatalities entailing psychostimulants, such as methamphetamine, raised by 34.8%.

Delivery Companies Growing During Coronavirus

As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, food delivery services such as Blue Apron are seeing an increase in demand for their services and an increase in customer demand. Even restaurants that survived the COVID-19 shutdown could have survived the dominance of delivery companies over local restaurants if their fees had not been regulated now.

Companies that already have an online delivery presence could step up their game by turning to established ordering apps and showcasing their offerings on social media, experts say. This transition is particularly necessary in fast-growing food delivery areas, where tensions between restaurants and delivery companies have increased since the Covid-19 closure and where high supply and ancillary charges have come under scrutiny. The outbreak, combined with the government’s decision to waive fees and expand delivery services, could be the tipping point that leads consumers to try e-commerce for the first time and ultimately accelerate the industry’s growth, experts say. The more in-demand services that food-delivery companies have, the greater the need to maintain a healthy workforce that they will have.

The growing demand for food delivery services will also contribute to the growth of the courier and courier market over the forecast period. Growing demand for food and beverage supplies and the expansion of e-commerce should support companies’ business model going forward, contributing to the growth of the courier markets over the forecast period.

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, online ordering has been touted as the fastest growing segment of the restaurant industry, estimated to reach $200 billion by 2025. Restaurants that had no delivery or no delivery in their original business model are now doing so as part of their business model.

Food delivery app Instacart has seen a 15% increase in demand, with over 1.5 million new grocery orders placed through the app in the past three weeks. The San Francisco-based grocery delivery service plans to hire 300,000 shoppers to meet the 150 percent increase in demand, the company said. Amazon plans to hire 1,500 extra delivery staff and more store staff to keep pace with the surge in online shopping.

The figures also reflect the company’s growth: Amazon has hired 80,000 new employees in the past few weeks alone. The new roles are designed to help him meet the demand for mobile orders placed through his delivery app. Delivery drivers will be on the road for five hours a day, seven days a week, more than double the four-hour average of last year, “the company said.

This includes the “delivery at the door” feature, which it says was originally designed to offer more flexible options to customers who may not be home at the time of delivery. Food delivery service Postmates has introduced a feature called Dropoff Options, which allows customers to meet their delivery driver at a door or curb without having contact with him or leaving the delivery at the door. Contact – free delivery, introduced in the US last year, allowing customers to retrieve their orders from a specific location.

Hungryroot, an online food service, has also recently seen an increase in demand for its delivery service and expects it to continue. That uptick has helped boost sales as Amazon waives its 30-day delivery fee in 2019.

Food delivery firms have been criticized for hiring workers as contractors instead of employees. When restaurants are not allowed to have food customers, they compete with the delivery company for where their customers can consume their food, even though the restaurant provides the food for them. Some of the largest delivery services, such as UberEats Inc. and Lyft Inc., have been criticized for charging high fees from independent restaurants, often making thin profit margins.

B2C customers are difficult to reach and require a high number of deliveries per day, while courier services offer them tailor-made services. Some local deliveries have also seen a huge spike in new customers. Mary Daze is a licensed cannabis delivery company that started during the outbreak of the coronavirus and has seen month over month gains in new customers.

Research Shows a Link between Cortisol and a Couple Stresses

For any couple experiencing arguments and conflicts due to stress and other challenges, they result in emotional burdens such as anger, guilt, unhappiness, etc.

Such couples should identify their source of disputes and solve them. This action may involve confronting their emotional responses and creating a comfortable discussion environment.

Besides, a significant concern during a couple’s therapy session involves how conflict affects a partner’s body. Some couples feel stomachs upsets, chest discomfort, choking-up, shortness of breath, among others.

However, the human body also responds physiologically by increasing cortisol during distressing moments such as couples stresses.

Usually, cortisol levels in the body are high within waking up hours and decrease gradually during the day.

However, disrupting this pattern through stress can even cause cortisol imbalance, affecting the immune and metabolic system.

It means when couples conflict, they create more stressful consequences, causing irregularities in the cortisol hormone. Later their bodies may experience long-term health problems or even long life issues.

What Research Says about Couples Stresses and Cortisol

Recent research published in Psycho-neuroendocrinology indicates the possibility of a particular partner’s stress affecting the other one. The study analyzed cortisol as a primary factor for how a couple’s interrelationship can influence each spouse’s physical health.

For two days, researchers assessed 43 couples to determine their stress and cortisol levels while engaging them in marital issues. The assessed participants had an average of over 11 years and were permanently employed.

The researching team investigated whether both partner’s experiences and perceptions of stress affected their cortisol levels. They also analyzed whether the connection between cortisol and couple stresses worsened with more negative habits during disagreements.

According to the research, cortisol levels can either increase or decrease depending on how affectionately partners communicate and their negative habits. Additionally, having a caring, responsive, and understanding partner contributes to healthier cortisol patterns for many successive years.

Essentially, the research’s discoveries imply that couples with a more stressed partner had cortisol levels that were less likely to drop throughout the day. Contrariwise, those whose partners were less stressed had healthier cortisol levels that declined steeply across the day.

The findings also imply that a partner’s feelings during an argument, the recovery rate, and long-term health don’t necessarily matter during disagreements. But the crucial considerations involve each partner’s stress levels, and how it affects their ability to participate in significant challenging matters and the recovery capability.

Moreover, the research also noted the benefits of positive conflict habits. For instance, couples who displayed humor, practical problem-solving skills, listened to the other attentively and admitted mistakes had fewer cortisol levels, even when their partners were stressed.

This study possibly implies two factors that may interfere with the stress and cortisol functions. These include restoring a particular partner’s distress so that it doesn’t affect the other one. The other factor is working to improve a couple’s relationship and interaction to protect against the influence of external stressors.

Success in either way may benefit both the health of each partner, including the condition of their relationships.

Drug Rehab During The Coronavirus

The coronavirus pandemic is putting the lives of millions of people struggling with drug and alcohol addiction at risk, and threatening America’s progress in the opioid crisis. Treatment providers are bracing for an increase in the number of patients seeking help before it subsides, according to a study that finds that nationwide pandemics are increasing drug overdoses and drug use among young adults in the United States.

Doctors fear the death toll could escalate as people struggling with substance abuse and addiction quickly change their ways of doing business. To make matters worse, many of the country’s largest treatment centers for people with drug and alcohol addiction were forced to close or significantly scale back their activities during the shutdowns. This means that most people who recover and their families lack the immediate support that may be available to them when they choose to seek treatment for their drug use.

A few therapy programs have been particularly helpful in getting help for substance abuse problems. The coronavirus affected some and were particularly hard hit, with their support meetings cancelled. With no relatives to push them for change, people with substance abuse disorders had no way of finding safety in rehab at the time.

Interventions can help relatives immediately contact an accredited detox and rehabilitation center. Treatment specialists are available 24 hours a day to provide you and your loved ones with the best treatment options available.

Patients associated with the coronavirus pandemic were found to have opioids in their system at least a month before they became ill. If anyone is addicted or has fallen back into drugs or alcohol due to the COVID-19 outbreak, please contact a treatment center. If an individual knows that it is safe and reasonable for you to go to rehab based on COVID-19, they can choose a program or treatment center that is best for them.

Local addiction treatment centers are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide patients with access to drugs to treat opioid addiction. The local addiction treatment center is open to give patients access to drugs to treat opioid addiction, such as methadone, buprenorphine, oxycodone and naloxone.

One of the benefits of the local government drug rehabilitation programs implemented during this pandemic is the ability to continue rehabilitation sessions online through modular means. Across the country, rehabilitation centers continue to strive to provide high-quality treatment to anyone who is struggling to overcome substance abuse.

In August, federal and state funds were allocated specifically to drug and alcohol facilities. Addiction therapy and rehabilitation facilities are exempt from the guidelines for accommodation in facilities and may continue to operate during the Coronavirus emergency. The state has considered drug or alcohol treatment centers essential businesses, and in August, state or federal coronavirus drugs were designated specifically for them. Couples Rehabs wants to continue operating and help those who desperately need treatment.

Here at Couples Rehabs, we are dedicated to supporting patients seeking treatment with drugs and alcohol during the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19). Please visit CouplesRehabs.org website for more information about coronaviruses (COVID-19), including how to protect oneself, and address any health concerns and those of their family, friends and colleagues.

Addiction recovery and treatment must be proactive to ensure that there are no gaps in rehab in the event of an outbreak of the coronavirus. Even during the COVID 19 pandemic, rehab for drug and alcohol addiction was an essential service. Rehabilitation facilities fulfilled this critical function by providing life-saving treatment to people at risk of drug overdoses.

At a time when it is most needed, treatment centers and addiction clinics are struggling to pay for it and some have begun to discontinue programs. Many cities are trying to minimize contact and maintain their low capacity because of state restrictions.

The Effects of Immunity in Human Relationships

Recent exciting studies indicate that immunity has an impact on human relationship and their lives.

Currently, the coronavirus pandemic has created an awareness of the functions of immunity in people’s lives. For instance, many people in various professions and industries have realized the importance of enhancing and maintaining a robust immune system during these times while working.

However, additional findings reveal how immunity affects the human relationship rather than what COVID-19 has taught people. Studies indicate the immune health also influences human communication, family, and friends.

Due to the pandemic factors, people have learned that immunity patterns influence many aspects of their lives, including their mood in decision making. Thus said, how the immune system functions appear to affect relationships too.

The connection between immune and relationship is a developing concept that may give people new ways of improving their interpersonal relationships.

Years of advanced scientific studies have verified how the immune system has significant roles, apart from preventing infections. Understanding the function of the immune cells gives researchers ideas on how different diseases affect people.

Also, scientists realize the value of immunity functions and how it impacts human thoughts and emotions. For instance, disordered immunity, signified by increased inflammation, has been intensely linked to depression. Increased inflammation levels also contribute to both short and long-term severe cognition problems.

What Research Indicates

Regarding the human relationship, the impacts of immunity to cognitive state and mood is a significant concern. It is even more interesting to realize the link between immunity and relational bonds.

Some research indicates that high inflammation levels cause social disengagement and withdrawal. Such explanations clarify the likelihood of a direct course of poor relationships due to an imbalanced immunity.

If altered immunity results in social withdrawal, one would expect to notice social isolation linked with a notable rise in inflammatory markers. However, additional research also shows that isolation may also cause inflammation.

The notion that social isolation affects human immunity needs careful studies, especially at these times, where there are extensive social distancing rules.

Stress and the Immunity system

The biological routes involving immune function and human relationships are also the field of keen research with stress effects being a significant concern. There is an identified connection, particularly to the social, interpersonal communications and the immune function.

The other explanation linking the immunity and social interactions may comprise dopamine, a brain chemical responsible for human behavior. Animal studies have particularly revealed that dopamine signaling influences immune signaling too. Furthermore, inflammation only may harm dopamine neurons.

Final thoughts From the Recover

In short, there is a significant understanding of the existence of the two-sided connections between human interpersonal relationships and the immunity system. A vulnerable immune system, especially during inflammation, has a considerable impact on the brain’s functions. It contributes to social isolation feelings, including other mental conditions that may compromise human interactions and relationships. Likewise, the quality of human relationships may affect their immune system health.

Besides, if you realize the current pandemic has affected your immunity and mental state, consider visiting a rehab center near you for professional treatment and support.

Understanding Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples is an approach based on validated research that highlights negative communication patterns and helps couples stop emotional conflicts and disengagement. It does so by helping each spouse express their significant needs and feelings that are hidden within themselves.

How the Therapy is Scientifically Validated

According to research, EFT is considered one of the most empirical approved methods of couple’s therapy.

Further studies have discovered that approximately 75 percent of couples who perform EFT successfully recover from distress. Additionally, around 90 percent demonstrate significant improvements. The recovered couples experience long-term and stable results, with fewer chances of reverting into distress.

Since it is highly effective, many couples use it in hospital clinics, rehab centers, private practices, and even university centers. Also, many cultural groups globally find it very useful.

Couples benefiting from EFT include those suffering from drug addiction and abuse, depressionPTSD, chronic diseases, among other disorders.

Does Emotionally Focused Therapy Work?

After many years and research on EFT, researchers verify it benefit couples a lot.  For instance, it reduces distress within relationships and helps couples have better communication. The skills couples learn throughout the EFT programs provide positive results for many years after completing the therapy.

Benefits of Emotionally Focused Therapy

For couples who are coping with traumatic incidents or infidelity, EFT is a verified, powerful approach to address such needs, both past and the present.

According to an EFT post published in Social Work Today, researchers interpret potential risks to observed separation or distancing in couples’ close relationships.

EFT Promotes Healthy Dependency

EFT delivers a language for healthy dependency between spouses and explores significant progress and moments that describe an adult love relationship. The core objective of this pattern is to develop and re-structure the couples’ emotional responses.

Eventually, new positive cycles of bonding interactions take place and replace harmful patterns while building permanent transformation.

EFT Establishes a Secure Bond

Losing the bond existing with a loved one intimidates an individual’s sense of security.

Emotionally focused therapy minimizes couples’ conflict while establishing a more secure emotional bond. Couples can learn to understand each other’s needs while expressing deep positive emotions when they feel vulnerable.

Spouses will start to recognize unwanted behaviors like anger outbursts, which creates detachment. They also learn to be emotionally present, sympathetic and engaged together, which improves their relationship bond and protection.

EFT as a therapeutic model has additional strengths such as support from extensive research with couples, who state it brings respect and collaboration.

Final Thoughts from the Recover

Emotions can cause unusual reactions and behaviors between couples.  Such feelings can eventually obstruct a successful relationship, work, and other daily routines.

However, obtaining support for negative behaviors and reactions is crucial in overcoming these barriers. Also, couples who are aware of their emotions can have successful careers, relationships, communication, and a complete optimistic perspective on life.

If you need assistance or more information on how emotionally focused therapy can improve your relationship, inquire about the available rehab centers near you. Ensure to choose a better option that addresses your needs.

Essential Business| How the new Restrictions Impact Society

As the summer reaches an end and the world is still turned upside down, businesses across the country are looking for help in dealing with the new regulations set in place. Employees and business owners are working harder than ever and seeing no end in sight.

Most states that have legalized medical marijuana have allowed dispensaries to remain open, although cannabis lobbyists have written open letters to state governors, arguing that many use cannabis as their primary source of income. The state of Pennsylvania has allowed liquor stores to remain open, but industry sources say closing a liquor store could pose a significant risk to drug addicts, especially as stress and unemployment increase and liquor sales may also be allowed on the black market.

States kept gun shops open after they were initially required to close, but after gun lobbyists convinced the Department of Homeland Security and the White House that firearms are a matter of public safety and protection, the states changed their move.

There has never been a better time for marijuana to come to the top of mainstream American society. State after state, governors and public health officials see cannabis shops as “essential” businesses that can stay open despite coronavirus-related closures and keep their mandates.

It was not so long ago that anyone who grew or sold marijuana was at risk of arrest, prosecution, and imprisonment. People may not be able to go bowling or watch movies in the movies, but they can still stock up on marijuana.

In the age of increasing legalization, cannabis providers in many states are seen as essential members of the community providing valuable services that are as valuable as collecting prescription drugs from the pharmacy or filling up at the gas station. Recreational companies are watching how many people who use marijuana for therapeutic purposes are jumping through the hoops needed for official certification as a patient, but these essential access points must remain open.

Advocacy groups are calling on governors and state officials to ensure that medical marijuana patients, in particular, continue to have access to the cannabis they need.

Two-thirds of states now recognize that medical cannabis should be legal, 11 have legalized adult use, and many also recognize that safe access to cannabis is critical. A growing number of state and federal law enforcement officials stopped demonizing cannabis a year ago, “said Dr. Michael O’Keefe, executive director of the National Organization for Marijuana Rights Reform.

In some states, authorities have introduced expanded dispensing services for medical cannabis, such as online dispensaries, making it easier for users to obtain marijuana while respecting social distancing measures. The Attorney General issued an order allowing doctors to make medical cannabis recommendations to new and existing patients with chronic pain through telemedicine and face examinations.

Marydaze is a new cannabis delivery service near social California and has been seeing an uptick in their new customer database, their COO Mckenzie Santa Maria credits this to the clean, safe and quick service her company provides.

Also, pharmacies can be limited to a limited number of locations in the state, rather than across the country. The New York Times said it was an “essential business” that could remain open and “stay at home.”

The state Department of Health says medical cannabis providers are “indispensable businesses” that are not subject to a general closure order.

Nonetheless, the industry has called on Congress to grant it equal access to disaster relief funds – a request that is necessary because its activities are still illegal under the current federal ban, are not generally eligible for such assistance, and, frankly, there are no unique public health and safety harms.

The coronavirus pandemic also highlights the discrepancy between federal and state policies: cannabis is a banned drug under several laws, and there are other ways to use it.

For others, however, it is a drug as crucial as any other – and advocates point out that users are not at risk, although they are discouraging smoking or vaping for the time being because of the health risks of exposing their lungs to the respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

Ways Counseling Helps Marriages with Addiction Issues

Facts indicate that couples counseling can handle addiction issues, including the relationship problems associated with it.

However, some partners get offended or confused if one of them suggests consulting counseling services to solve their relationship and addiction issues.

What both partners should realize is they can both can experience addiction challenges even if only one of them is struggling with it.

Besides, below are a few crucial ways that counseling can help in addiction recovery and restoring a better relationship.

Counseling Help Couples Handle Emotional Problems

Many life occasions contribute to emotional stress, which can become worse with addiction. Some problems that affect couples include the death of their loved ones or parents.

When relationship issues occur between spouses, the addict may concentrate on habits that strengthen addiction. Alternatively, the other partner may focus on the addict as the leading cause of existing problems, rather than admitting their relationship has problems.

Additionally, many addicts do not realize they have co-occurring mental health issues, which contribute to emotional distress.

However, with professional couples programs, spouses can learn to handle their emotional issues in various benefiting ways. Also, these programs can prevent the manipulation from addicted partners with controlling behaviors to take charge of everything, leaving the other partner unsupported or isolated.

Detecting and Solving Issues Resulting From the Addiction

Counseling for challenges involved in relationships can help couples to detect and solve issues resulting from the addiction itself.

Problems caused by addiction may include:

  • legal problems due to alcohol, drug and sex addictions
  • financial difficulties, arising from gambling, drugs, and overspending addictions
  • sex addiction increasing risks to HIV and STDs infections
  • health problems associated with food, drugs, and alcohol

While these are not the only problems resulting from addiction, the advantage of couples counseling is that it can help them to solve all issues they desire to overcome.

Counseling Helps to Resolve and Repair Relationship Issues

One of the most significant help that couples counseling can offer to spouses affected by addiction includes resolving and repairing the damaged relationship.

Although couples may experience challenges acknowledging their relationship disputes, the best recovery can happen if they handle and solve relationship problems together.

Other addressed issues may include accepting and healing from existing or past affairs, restoring patterns of secrecy and lies, requesting and granting forgiveness, ending abusive behaviors, among others.

Enabling an Addiction Is a Relationship Problem

Although an addiction seems to be controlled by the addict, it is often a relationship problem. The non-addicted spouse may unintentionally enable the addiction, and if both partners are addicted, it may not be easy for them to quit.

Enabling behaviors are partner’s habits that prolong addiction, usually without such intentions. These include eliminating messes, covering up, lending money, and caring for the addict’s responsibilities.

However, professional counseling may help the couple become aware of these enabling habits and help them solve them.

Final Words from the Recover

If you are struggling in your marriage or relationship due to addiction or substance use, you can contact support and treatment facilities in your area. Check whether they offer professional counseling services to address your relationship needs before you enroll in a perfect match.

The Effects of a Plant and its Relationship with the Virus

The biggest question I ask myself is how CBD in medical cannabis might affect infection and recovery with the coronavirus and what else can be done to stay healthy. People ask if cannabis CBD can help protect your immune system from getting COVID-19 in the first place. If you get CO VID-19, can CBD from cannabis help treat it, or can it cause you to get it? Although there are several studies on the effects of CBD and cannabis on various diseases, we have no studies showing that CBD or cannabis has any effect on coronaviruses.

Many advocates of CBD and cannabis, both on Facebook and on social media, claim that the plant has boosted their immune systems against the virus, and recommend others do the same. Whether you are trained in natural medicine or Western medicine, it is essential to inform people of the facts and be completely honest about what you do not know. It is also crucial not to make false claims when you are understandably a little afraid and want to do everything to protect yourself and your loved ones.

A global coronavirus pandemic has locked millions of people out of bars, restaurants, and theaters, but it has given US pots an unexpected boost. The shopping frenzy is a way to stock up for potential quarantine measures and protect yourself from government lockouts. There is no guarantee that significant stores will remain open during virus blocking, except in the case of restrictions.

Newsom was a leading proponent of Proposition 19, the 2016 bill that legalized the sale of cannabis for recreational use in California. His administration had made the same argument he made four years ago as lieutenant governor when he advocated keeping marijuana shops open. Sales increased in San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, and other California cities.

Opponents of Proposition 64, including the Center for Medical Marijuana Policy Research at the University of California, San Francisco, said the health risks of smoking cannabis would be outweighed by the benefits of pills and other medications made from cannabis available elsewhere for medical patients. Approach to marijuana smart, “says Gieringer, who has written about cannabis’s health problems, that studies have shown that chronic cannabis smoking, like smoking itself, can increase the risk of respiratory infections, some of which were factors for the susceptibility of COVID-19.

Tashkin co-authored a 2014 study published in the Journal of Clinical Pharmacology that found that habitual marijuana smoking has several effects on the respiratory tract and immune system. Although more medical research on the health effects of cannabis is needed, the study raises the possibility that cannabis use negatively affects the immune system, says Dr. David Gieringer, director of the Center for Medical Marijuana Policy Research at the University of California, San Francisco.

Those who use cannabis products for non-medical reasons should avoid this during the COVID-19 outbreak. The cannabis industry is safe, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The World Health Organisation urges the public to take precautions to prevent the spread of the virus. The WHO has called on the people “to develop a high level of awareness and awareness of the potential risks of COVID-19 and its impact on human health.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has also warned against smoking marijuana during a pandemic. The Leafly article discusses how cannabis users can protect themselves from the infection and spread of the virus. According to the CDC, users should not share marijuana joints as it is an easy way to spread germs.

However, the CDC also instructs people who need marijuana for medicinal purposes to have at least a month’s supply. Now that the coronavirus scare has struck, Arizona’s medical marijuana patients may be wondering how best to stay healthy. A primary reason why users should not share marijuana joints is that it is an easy way to spread the viruses.

Traditionally, cannabis was a communal plant, and every mortgage in history has sat on a 1970s show – in style with its pals puffing on magical dragons.

But now that the coronavirus has found its way around the world, marijuana users should think twice about sharing. Instead, rely on a plant that you can build on because it is produced there, “says Altieri. Friends roll huge, solemn stumpings and hand out uncontrolled giggling bongs, taking glorious blows as their pals watch.

Altieri recommends that physicians who test positive for the coronavirus consult a doctor before taking the drug. If you are infected with the virus, stop smoking immediately, as it can further irritate your lungs.

As the worldwide death toll from the coronavirus pandemic continues to rise, and Americans’ anxiety escalates with the unemployment rate, operators of cannabis dispensaries across the country report that business is booming. Businesses like Marydaze Cannabis are booming and the demand for cannabis has soared recently during pandemics, with some countries supplying up to 80 percent of their supply to keep prices down.

Effects of Re-opening Mental Health Amid Coronavirus

Many Americans are concerned about the impact of reopening the state amid a coronavirus pandemic. There are also concerns about how people will leave their homes when they return to work, shopping, sports, and daily activities.

Others are concerned about how they should think about the state operating at another time and their mental health. The fact is that we are not immune to the effects of coronavirus infection and its surroundings. Once normality returns, people will still have confused thoughts and feelings and a sense of isolation from other people they can connect with.

Mental health experts, therefore, have the following tips on how people can adapt quickly to this new standard. Despite the continuing danger of staying in crowded places, many people are regaining normalcy and balancing socialization needs. They can put themselves at risk for the virus, but they can regroup and reorient themselves.

COVID-19 has affected their mental health and many people know the best steps to deal with reentry anxiety. Experts believe the first step to alleviating any form of anxiety is to gradually do what is convenient. They call this intersection of emotions “re-enter fear,” and they believe it is one of the most important factors in the recovery process.

People need to see this process as a long-term strategy without being intimidated by anyone in their normal lives, “said Dr. Michael J. Schmitt, a psychiatrist at the University of California, San Francisco.

People should, for example, disinfect themselves, wear masks in public, maintain social distance and maintain contact with family and friends to stay safe. They should also avoid spreading negative information, seeing or reading false news in the media. If no one knows who is infected and who is not, they should continue to apply coronavirus guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus.

For many of us, the closeness of people wearing masks triggers feelings of fear and insecurity, and the main reason for this is the constant reminder of the threat that surrounds us. If we are surrounded by people, it is an important step to reduce our fear of coronavirus and at the same time to lead a normal life again.

Seeing someone wearing a mask can provoke a fight or flight mode that induces an arousal that affects others mentally and physically. The mask is a virus that lurks in the shadows, fueling fear of an imminent, invisible enemy. Wearing masks in public places is an important step to avoid transmission, which should never be neglected. As states begin to revoke residency permits at home, Americans must prepare for a new normal.

If this new normal negatively affects your mental health and daily activities, make sure you seek help immediately to prevent further problems. If you feel stressed exposing yourself to the coronavirus again, do not hesitate to seek professional help in a rehabilitation center.

How to Cope with Mental Relapse after Recovery

Many people think that addiction relapse after recovery usually occurs in a single step. However, it is a gradual process involving three stages, which include emotional, mental, and physical relapse.

Mental relapse is the second stage that involves constant struggles with your mind. Usually, you will have to decide whether you will use drugs again or you can do without them. Therefore, before people finally relapse, they usually have an inner struggle with the first two stages.

Physical relapse means the person has yielded to drug use. Since the second stage often decides whether a person will relapse, there are various tips you can apply to cope with it. Below are the useful tips.

Discuss With a Familiar Person When You Experience the Urges

Call a friend, a family member, or rehab support and tell them what you are experiencing. Just like the saying that states a problem half shared is half solved, the moment you start talking about your thoughts and feelings, your urges will begin to disappear.

Think About the Consequences before Going Back

When you think about reverting, you usually fantasize about how capable you can control your use this time. You might tempt yourself to take one drink, which will eventually open doors for ordering more drinks and creating a vicious endless cycle.

However, the best action to take is to remind yourself of the potential and the negative consequences you encountered during addiction and how you never want to return there.

Nobody ever wants to associate themselves with a tragic outcome that created lots of health issues and troubles in life due to poor decisions of drug use. After all, you will realize things might get worse with relapse, especially if your past habits almost destroyed your life.

Distract Yourself from Mental Cravings to Avoid Relapse

When you think about using drugs, engage yourself with some activities. For instance, chatting with a friend, attending a meeting, doing some exercise, among others, are crucial ways that work. If you just stay idle and entertain those cravings while doing nothing, you are merely giving your mental relapse time to develop.

Additionally, most mental urges usually involve intense feelings that last for about 30 minutes. However, if you keep yourself busy during this time, you will realize how quickly it will disappear.

Practice Relaxation during Your Recovery Journey

Relaxation and meditation are crucial aspects of preventing relapse. The reason is that when you feel tense, you are most likely to do familiar and wrong things rather than something new and right.

Constant tension can build anxiety and fears that can later make you repeat past mistakes that triggered addiction. However, relaxation creates an optimistic and hopeful mind that reduces triggers to mental relapse.

A Word from the Recover on Mental Relapse

Since mental relapse is a hard stage to avoid due to its overwhelming urges, the best action is to find an addiction therapist, counselor, or rehab support. Several professional rehab treatments are available near you. These rehabs have excellent programs that can help you get back to calm and clear thoughts before relapse episode manifests eventually.

If relapse has already occurred, it is not too late to seek rehab support immediately before you revert into severe addictive habits.

Coronavirus Survivor and Now his Plasma Donation Might Save Others

Positive news surfaces more freely; it seems, as a California man who was diagnosed with the coronavirus and recovered, has donated his plasma to help others struggling with the potentially deadly virus. A story that will touch many fighting with anxiety and fear from this virus pandemic.

The story of the man begins on March 6, Jason Garcia felt he had a mild cough and some congestion in his chest.

The 36-year-old aerospace engineer from Escondido, California, didn’t react to it and didnt think that much of it. However, later, while on a work trip, he mentioned a headache had started accompanying his dry cough. Within a day, he had reported a fever and body aches that quickly came and went. Then he began experiencing shortness of breath. All signs that point to the deadly virus.

After becoming ill, Garcia notified his doctor and, based on his symptoms, was told to go to the hospital and get tested for coronavirus. After fighting the packed ER room, he was sent home and received a call on March 14, notifying him to know he had tested positive for COVID-19.

“They said stay isolated,” Garcia said. “That’s what I did.”
Jason Garcia’s home isolation.

He spent approximately ten days inside his home, restricted to his office or his guest room, isolating away from his active-duty Navy wife and their 11- month-old daughter. Around the fifth day, he began to feel better and considered himself symptom-free on March 18.

He received a letter from the county of San Diego saying that it was safe for him to come out of isolation and rejoined the world on March 23.
Garcia stated although the protocol for coming out of isolation was said to be 72 hours without symptoms, he wanted to be extra cautious. “I decided to do five days just to be safe,” he said.

Garcia wrote on social media: “I claimed victory over this deadly virus. I won over COVID-19.”

The same week, health officials at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Orange County, California, also took to social media to say they were looking for someone who had been diagnosed with coronavirus and had recovered. They were seeking a subject to help with experimental treatment to save the life of another coronavirus patient potentially.

Garcia was tipped off by a friend who saw both their post and figured it was a great match. St. Joseph asked him for a plasma donation to be given to a coronavirus patient who was in dire condition and unresponsive to other treatments.

He said yes without any hesitation and stated that “This can be turned into a lifesaving opportunity for someone who can’t fight off this disease.”

The plasma donation will provide the current coronavirus patient antibodies from Garcia, a recovered patient, to help attack the disease, Wendy Escobedo, director of nursing for renal services at St. Joseph’s Hospital announced in a video produced by the hospital.

On April 1, Garcia provided his plasma for experimental transfer into three patients with hopes of a quick recovery.

As of Sunday, he said, doctors told him that all of his plasma has been donated and was in the process of saving their lives. Garcia stated that a patient who was in the worst condition has since improved.

The patient was taken off most of his medication and is healthier in terms of oxygenation and is doing incrementally better every day.

“When I was diagnosed, the feeling of dread and fear, the fact this was a positive,” Garcia revealed. “This thing ended up, possibly saving someone’s life.”

It is still unclear how Garcia became infected with the virus; however, he’s glad he possibly could contribute to treatment until a vaccine is ready.

“If this works, there’s going to be an awesome chance for people to save a lot of heartache for others and fight the fight for their lives.”

As of today, there are, Coronavirus Cases: 1,339,970 with a total of Deaths:
74,410 and Recovered: 277,852.

How Griffin Living is Protecting Essential Workers During the Covid-19

Calabasas , United States – May 9, 2020 /MarketersMedia/ —

On May 1st, it has been widely reported that workers from Amazon, Instacart, Whole Foods, Walmart, Target, and FedEx, are set to walk out of work, reacting to a perceived lack of care from their employers for their personal safety during the COVID-19 outbreak. May Day strikes are a yearly occurrence, but it is especially dramatic in 2020. America has reached historical numbers of people who are out of work, with 30 million people filing for unemployment last month. Those lucky enough to remain working are concerned for their health and that of their loved ones.

In this context, I am proud to be working for an organization that has retained all of its employees and put effective safety measures in place so that no one to date has gotten sick. I want to share how Griffin Living, a real estate development company with a current focus on innovative senior living, has been keeping our people safe so that others can implement similar practices to protect their workers’ health and jobs.

At the office:

At their corporate headquarters in Calabasas, there are normally 70 people working on a daily basis. While all of these people have the option to work from home, 30 have chosen to continue coming into the office while the other 40 telecommute. Those 30 are spread out to every third office, which puts tens of feet of space between them. When I need to go down the hall to talk to a coworker, I stand outside the office door. Griffin Living, by way of Paul Griffin III its President and CEO, has equipped workers with PPE and hand sanitizer at every desk, with spare available at reception.

No guests are allowed in the building for now. Delivery workers are encouraged to leave packages and mail outside, which are disinfected before distribution within the office. We leave bags of chips and bottled waters outside for delivery personnel, whom we’ve known for years and want to offer a bit of extra support right now.

Griffin Living has a trusted janitorial staff who are disinfecting surfaces multiple times per day and fogging the offices with Lysol every night. The whole place smells like disinfectant, but it feels clean and safe.

On the construction sites:

Griffin Living, being one of the top senior living developers, has two active construction sites, one in Simi Valley and one in Westlake Village, each with about 60 workers. We’re breaking ground on two new sites, one in Atlanta and the other in San Diego, in the coming weeks. Some of the safety protocols from the corporate headquarters apply to our construction sites; workers maintain a distance of 10 feet and are not permitted in the onsite construction offices. The sites are vigorously disinfected. We provide PPE and require workers to wear masks and gloves at all times.

In addition, they have worked with contractors to develop practices that make them more comfortable. With their input, we have provided several portable washbasins with hospital-grade soap on each site. We have designated stairways to be directional — some used only for going up and others going down so that workers don’t bump into each other while using the stairs. All of the contractors on these sites are skilled craftsmen, licensed for specialized work in our buildings. We value them and trust their insight on how to make their conditions safe for them.

They also have safety inspectors who are hired to look out for their needs and ensure contractors abide by local and state safety codes. They have received further training to address the pandemic conditions. In ordinary times, contractors will complain that inspectors can slow their progress: these days, everyone is highly compliant and many express gratitude for a second set of eyes to keep them safe.

James Richardson, Project Executive at Land Mark Electric, Inc. says, “Griffin Living field staff has always been diligent in promoting and enforcing safety on their projects. With the recent Covid-19 challenges, Griffin Living focused on getting ahead of the health concern challenges by promoting and enforcing both Cal-OSHA and CDC guidelines for all the construction workers and their families.”

In addition to our in-house safety inspectors, state and local inspectors from a variety of government agencies stop in a couple times a week to make sure everything is up to code.

Finally, there is a high volume of feedback: our workers have many opportunities to express concern. Every morning, the senior project manager meets with the foremen from each trade (e.g. foundation, electrical, plumbing, etc.), the onsite project engineer, and the safety inspector to see how things are going.

Protecting our workers and their jobs have been our top priority during the crisis. Between basic protocols like maintaining social distance, providing PPE, and frequently disinfecting and asking for workers and inspectors to offer input on how to make their work environments safe, we have managed to keep our workers healthy and employed.

John Terando is the Vice President of Capital Acquisition and Management at Griffin Living, identifying and overseeing relationships with community investment partners. During his 30 year tenure with various Griffin entities, he has overseen development of approximately 12,000 residential units in California and Georgia. He is working on new developments in Connecticut, New Jersey, Florida, and Arizona.

What About The Homeless And Coronavirus

The coronavirus crisis has begun to do something the city of San Francisco has not done for years: get homeless people off the streets and into shelters, including some of their now-empty hotels. Homelessness has long been a problem in this city, but now it’s made even more complicated by the coronovirus, “Johnson said in a statement. So far, elected officials such as Mayor Ed Lee, Supervisory Board member Scott Wiener and City Council members have supported the nonprofit group’s request.

Faced with the possibility that the virus could kill the nearly 10,000 people living on the streets and in temporary shelters, city officials have secured the necessary self-quarantine. The rooms would also be available to homeless residents, who would have to isolate themselves so that they could not be returned to the community without infecting others.

Their case is just one of thousands of cases wafting through the homeless community and people seeking help as officials struggle to find shelter to isolate the sick and safely shelter the most vulnerable. We know that San Francisco’s program managers plan to radically increase the number of homeless beds in the city soon. There is a good chance he will catch the coronavirus in the same people we are supposed to protect from the dangers of life outside.

Service providers acknowledge that not everyone on the street will get an emergency bed in this crisis. Signs directing people to the San Francisco Department of Public Health’s homeless shelter in Mission District show signs of people in need.

It is being reported that some city hospitals are sending seemingly homeless people who have tested positive for coronavirus but do not need intensive care into emergency accommodation in isolation.

Governor Gavin Newsom has instructed local authorities to find locations to reduce the density of homeless shelters in areas with basic health conditions, such as those showing symptoms or who tested positive for Covid 19, county Executive Frank Kim said Thursday. Uniquely, people who live on the street or in shelters are more likely to be caught, “Hill said. Newsome has not only addressed the problem of the homeless following the coronavirus outbreak, but has also made homelessness a priority in his first 100 days in office, and he has directed the state’s health departments, as well as the California Department of Health and the Department of Homeless Services.  To “find sites that help reduce density in homeless shelters, particularly for people with underlying health problems and those who have shown symptoms,” which are tested positive in Covids 19.

The state will use $50 million to buy 1,300 travel trailers and rent hotel rooms for emergency shelters, and two-thirds of that money will go directly to local governments to spend on homeless services. The state is also providing Orange County with 78 caravans to isolate the homeless

The Senate recently passed the CARES Act. The bill includes $4 billion in homelessness aid to be distributed through the Emergency Solutions Grants Program (ESG). This is just one of many provisions that will be important for communities trying to keep the homeless and people at risk of homelessness safe. The bill, which includes a $1.5 billion increase in funding for homelessness services for the homeless and their families, will be financed through a combination of federal, state, local and private funding.

HUD recently released a report on how ESG is being used to fund activities to protect homeless people from the new coronavirus. Amber Richmond is tired of berating her homeless man who coughs and doesn’t cover her mouth.

The number of homeless people with coronavirus infections living in city shelters has doubled in the past week as social services workers struggle to cope with the growing number of cases affecting some of New York’s most vulnerable. At least seven residents of a homeless shelter in New York City are currently testing positive for coronavirus.

The East Coast city has a similar initiative to California, while New York has joined California in suspending evictions, suspending evictions, keeping homeless shelters open, and routinely checking the health of the homeless population and its residents. Local news media reported that the city’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHS) and the Department for Homeless Services are offering coronavirus tests for the homeless.

Los Angeles Covid-19 Stay At Home Orders Showing Promise

Los Angeles County is showing promise, as the numbers of new coronaviruses cases are slowly decreasing. Mayor Eric Garcetti announced on Friday, that the stay at home orders have been working. However, new cases and deaths are still increasing overall.

Garcetti said, “A week ago, the rate of increase was about 50% more than it is right now.”

Within the last two days, over 1,000 cases have been reported in L.A. county. The county stated that 521 of those came Friday, which brings the total number of coronavirus cases to over 4,600. With 11 new coronavirus-related deaths Friday, the overall death toll in the county is 91.

Long Beach, which has its own health department, announced an additional two deaths and 18 more cases. However, surrounding cities have not reported their increase yet.

Garcetti cautioned that deaths and new cases are still doubling every few days. Even though the total new cases is slowing, the death tolls are still increasing faster every day. Staying at home is always being advised as the only way to stop the latest facts and spread. Many businesses are adapting to a new way of life; over 7 million Americans have filed for unemployment.

“It is not time to relax, because the more we can push that curve down, the more chance we have seeing those numbers not increase by as much. That means dozens of people who will not die.”

Gov. Gavin Newsom also announced in his live Facebook stream that statewide, the number of coronavirus cases grew to more than 11,900 on Friday — with the death toll topping 260. Approximately 2,188 people are hospitalized, with 901 of them in intensive care units, a 10.4% spike in ICU hospitalizations from the previous day.

Barbara Ferrer, director of the county Department of Public Health, announced that Friday that L.A. County should get ready to see 1,000 new coronavirus cases per day in the next weeks, and the key to maintaining the low spread is to maintain social distancing.

“The next few weeks are going to be critically important, because we are going to see more cases of people who are positive with COVID-19, but it’s our hope that the rate of increase continues to be manageable and that we don’t overwhelm our healthcare system,” she said.

Nearly 26,000 people have been tested in L.A. County as of Friday, completely over double the number reported a week before.

Garcetti also reported that seven additional testing sites have opened in Los Angeles, tallying the capacity to perform 3,500 tests daily in the coming week. With the expanded testing capacity, he also promised that “we’re going to open the aperture a little bit…so more people can get tested.”

As of now, testing is still only given by appointment and limited to residents who are showing signs and are at least 65 years old or have underlying health conditions. However, the testing totals still fall far behind that of New York City, where over 49,000 positive cases have been identified as of Friday morning.

The overall increase in L.A. County cases may also be due to a spike in cases listed in institutional settings, like nursing homes, assisted living facilities, shelters, treatment centers, jails, and prisons. Private facilities tend to house many vulnerable people who are older or have underlying health conditions, and residents frequently live in close quarters, making it hard to slow or even contain the virus’ spread.

The Department of Public Health has been investigating 321 cases within their staff, residents, and guests of 67 institutions as of Friday. Of those, 166 were among residents, and 155 were staff members.

On Monday, cases were still being investigated 18 facilities. Of those who have died from COVID-19, 11 have lived in a nursing center or unique facility, like hospice.

A total of 25 cases have been reported all over L.A. County’s correctional system — 18 staffers and seven detainees. Also, there were seven additional cases recorded among L.A.’s homeless community; down two from the day before because those cases were discovered to be among people who were not homeless.

During Friday’s press conference Newsom said, there have been 14 cases of COVID-19 in the homeless population across the state, which many experts have found hard to believe.

The cases came from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Contra Costa, Ventura and Fresno counties. The total count includes one homeless man who died last month in Santa Clara County. Newsom, however, did make it clear that there are likely more cases that have not been discovered.

“By the way, that’s an undercount,” Newsom stated during his press conference held a motel in Sacramento that would be assigned to house vulnerable homeless individuals.

Gavin told the L.A. Times, “We know that’s just what’s been reported to us, but there’s heightened concern around the need to do more in our congregate facilities to isolate people into shelters like this and provide those basic essential services as we work through this crisis.”

In the dark times and extended stay at the home warning, the state of California, hopes to lease-up 15,000 rooms for homeless people. So far, counties have claimed 869 homeless individuals are vulnerable to the virus into shelters. Over, 6,867 hotel and motel rooms have been assigned to this effort along with other means of housing being discussed like cruise ships and big arenas used for emergency evacuations.

Coping With Stress and Anxiety of Working From Home

Working from home has become part of the global response to the coronavirus pandemic. The reason is that isolating yourself from people through social distancing is the only way of preventing the spread of the virus since it doesn’t currently have a cure. Therefore, many citizens from countries around the world have to obey the law by staying and working from home.

However, prolonged isolation at home can affect your mental health. For instance, people working from home have already started experiencing stress and anxiety due to lots of pressure and change in the environment.

In a press meeting held on March 26, 2020, WHO officials discussed the challenges that the world is experiencing as a result of COVID-19.

A remark from Dr. Hans Kluge, the WHO’s regional director for Europe, stated that it’s natural for everyone to feel stressed, anxious, fearful, and lonely during the pandemic. Therefore, the effects on our mental health and psychological well-being are significant consequences of the COVID-19 outbreak.

What Is Stressful About Working From Home?

Many people are struggling due to the stressful and anxious challenges they experience while working from home as the reality becomes more apparent. While the involved stressors may not be similar to those associated at the workplace, they still have an impact.

Below are a few common causes of stress and anxiety of working at home.

Lack of Structure and Focus

Failure of setting up and focusing on boundaries when it is time to work without feeling out of control.

Too Many Distractions When Working From Home

You might face many interruptions from family members, house responsibilities, social media, among others. The outcome is you have a short time to concentrate on your work, which can cause stress. You will also be anxious when you are not productive.

Difficulty Setting Boundaries

Various responsibilities at home and work can be overwhelming and challenging.

To cope with stress and anxiety, below are a few strategies to preserve your mental well-being while working at home.

  • Identifying and managing your stressors
  • Setting a schedule on how you should work and sticking on it away from distractions
  • Creating an online supportive network of colleagues and staying connected to them
  • Protecting your sleep, and never using your mobile devices at night to rest your brain from a day’s stress
  • Classifying your tasks into smaller goals and then rewarding yourself for accomplishing each step to make your work at home job pleasant, among others
  • Staying positive

Final Thoughts From the Recover

While working from home can create a remarkable sense of flexibility and freedom, such as no commuting cost, there are hidden stressors and drawbacks that can affect your mental health. Meanwhile, while concentrating on ways to cope with stress and anxiety, you need to stay at home to avoid coronavirus infections.

However, let’s hope the pandemic will end sooner than we expect, and daily life routines resume. The most significant thing is for people to isolate themselves by staying at home as the only sure way of controlling infections for now.

Orange County Couples Rehab Getting Busy During Covid-19 Outbreak

While the average American takes shelter inside their homes, they are obsessively refreshing their feed only to worry about the coronavirus pandemic. Every news channel has been transformed into Covid-19 watch- creating panic and anxiety among everyone.

As couples are forced to spend time at home, some being laid off due to the lockdown orders across the country, many are finding themselves in the epicenter of danger. Some are almost shouting their fears for the unseen victims of the vast and unprecedented national shutdown.

Couples who suffer from substance abuse tend to find themselves in a domestic violence situation, making isolation a trapped environment. Abusers and enablers will have total and utter control to demand and execute any idea they have.

Call for more information – 1-(888)-325-2454

When couples are addicted to drugs or alcohol, and behavior progresses to the point that family members are urged to take steps toward the couple’s rehab treatment. Consultation with a rehab that allows couples will bring support and direction to the next steps toward recovery.

Couples drug rehabs in orange county are seeing a high volume of calls during the outbreak, as more and more people become stuck with their habits. Orange County drug rehabs have also noted many are asking to stay up to 90’s day to escape the lockdown. Many rehabs are keeping their doors open to accommodate people suffering from their addictions.

For patients, drug rehab with no insurance coverage generally begins at more than $2,000 for an outpatient program of approximately 60 days. It can cost anywhere from $6,000 to $30,000 for a 30-day inpatient or residential treatment and anywhere from $16,000-$ 50,000 or more for a 90-day free inpatient drug rehab center or residential programs.

However, in this time of need, many couples drug rehabs near Orange county are offering alternate choices, like Scholarships, grants, sponsorships, and in some instances, if one person in the relationship has insurance, it will cover their Partner. Case by case will differ due to the situation and program needed; however, in this time of panic and sickness, couples can not give up their will to become sober.

Katis, the policy coordinator for the New Mexico Coalition Against Domestic Violence, fears that “violence increases when you have circumstances such as unemployment and isolation.”

Isolated with their abusers, victims will lose a safe space to call for help; she also says, “A lot of the time, survivors will contact us when the abuser isn’t in the home when they are at work. There isn’t an opportunity to do that now.”

“We’re going to be seeing some deaths in our caseloads,” she said in an interview. “We might not even know about it until they’ve been dead for several days.”

There are insufficient data on the consequences of a pandemic on substance abuse, particularly in the social media age, where humans are “connected to the sources of information constantly.” However, there is evidence of significant disasters like 9/11.

According to a 2001 survey they discovered that 10 percent of New York associates reported an increase in smoking, and nearly 25 percent of respondents drank more alcohol in the days following the terrorist attack. Approximately three percent of people reported an increase in cannabis use.

Physicians and harm reduction workers are begging for a safer opioid supply as a way to control overdose deaths, which is an urgent situation now amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Frequently asked question couples have before entering a drug rehab:

  1. Can we stay in the same room during treatment?
    1. Yes- couples drug rehabs have come along way when it comes to how they handle couples’ detox and treatment programs.
  2. How can I pay for couples drug rehab if I don’t have insurance, but my Partner does?
    1. Through scholarships, sponsorships, grants, and depending on the case, some programs will allow one person to have insurance while the other does not attend.
  3. Can my Partner and I still fly out of state to couples drug rehab or detox center?
    1. Traveling for medical needs has been deemed necessary, and while there are restrictions, many treatment centers, and detox centers have under ten beds.
  4. Can I sleep with my Partner during detox?
    1. Yes, many drug rehabs that accept couples will allow pairs to detox and withdrawal together, understanding the difficult times they are enduring.

All drug rehabilitation centers have taken the necessary precautions to maintain a clean and healthy space for people to continue treatment. Symptoms can include fever, cough, and difficulty breathing — similar to a cold or flu. Many people can acquire a more severe illness. People most at risk of this include older adults and people with harsh chronic medical conditions like heart, lung, or kidney disease. If you develop symptoms, contact public health authorities.

To prevent the virus from spreading, medical experts urge constant handwashing and coughing into the sleeve. And if you get sick, stay at home and notify your nearest doctor’s office.

If you or a loved one is struggling from substance abuse and want a safe place to detox or recovery, please call – or visit www.CouplesRehab.org

New York Begins Using Hydroxychloroquine and Zithromax To Treat Coronavirus

The news of a potential drug developed almost half a century ago to treat malaria is transmitting positive signs that it may also cure COVID-19. Experts and President trump are optimistic about this drug when combined with antibiotics have resulted in

Hydroxychloroquine, with the brand name Plaquenil, was announced to be effective in killing the deadly virus in laboratory experiments, Forbes reported.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Sunday that drug trials to test coronavirus treatments would commence in the state early Tuesday. His announcement comes after President Trump on Thursday claimed the Food and Drug Administration approved one of the compounds for clinical trials, as New York grows as the epicenter for the pandemic in the U.S.

Throughout Sunday’s press briefing, Cuomo reported that 750,000 doses of Chloroquine, 70,000 doses of hydroxychloroquine, and 10,000 doses of Zithromax were obtained by New York state for the trial.

The drugs, Chloroquine (an anti-malaria drug), and hydroxychloroquine (used for lupus and arthritis) have already been approved by the FDA for clinical trials as potential coronavirus treatments, while Zithromax is a brand-name antibiotic. ZITHROMAX (azithromycin tablets and oral suspension) carries the active ingredient azithromycin, a macrolide antibacterial drug, for oral administration.

As many criticized the president for his early assumptions, Cuomo expressed how he believes, “The president is optimistic about these drugs, and we are all optimistic that it could work.”

During his press conference, Trump said Thursday that he spoke with Cuomo regarding Chloroquine before the FDA’s go-ahead for clinical trials and that Cuomo desired to be “first in line” for testing the treatments.

HISTORY OF THE DRUG:

Quinine was first acknowledged as a potent antimalarial agent centuries ago. The beneficial effects of quinine have been used for years. However, its more potent synthetic forms, Chloroquine, and hydroxychloroquine have been increasingly popular in a myriad of other diseases in addition to malaria.

Antimalarials continued to have various immunomodulatory effects, including systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis, skin diseases, and the treatment of chronic Q fever.

Hydroxychloroquine is manufactured in metallic countries; however, the primary producer is known as Taj Pharma. Taj Pharma is the largest generic pharmaceutical company in India. Hydroxychloroquine is manufactured and exported to all Middle East countries and the other regions like Europe, Thailand, Bangladesh, North America, South America, Russia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

As clinical trials race to be approved, experts have discussed the known various immunomodulatory mechanisms of antimalarials. While also researching the current evidence for their beneficial effects in multiple diseases and potential novel treatments.

The STUDY:

According to a  French study that Trump promoted on his Twitter Saturday obtained early evidence that taking a combination of hydroxychloroquine and Zithromax may be useful in treating coronavirus.

However, the results do not prove that the two drugs can effectively treat coronavirus. The FDA commissioner Dr. Stephen Hahn explained that “We may have the right drug, but [chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine] might not be in the appropriate dosage form right now, and it might do more harm than good.”

The study included a total of 36 patients — 20 treated individuals and 16 infected controls — were enrolled in the research, led by Didier Raoult, an infectious disease expert from’ Institut Hospitals-Universitaire in Marseille.

600 mg of Plaquenil each day was given to the participants.

The experts found that 50 percent of the treated group shifted from positive to negative for the virus three days — and by day six, that was up 70 percent.

Of the 20 test patients, six who were treated with both Plaquenil and the antibiotic azithromycin showed dramatic results — with five testings negative on day three. All six of them tested negative on day six.

The study concluded, “Despite its small sample size, our survey shows that hydroxychloroquine treatment is significantly associated with viral load reduction/disappearance in COVID-19 patients, and its effect is reinforced by azithromycin.”

While researchers discovered that a pill, including two HIV drugs advertised as a potential treatment for COVID-19, was not sufficient, a trial of Chinese patients with a severe case of the coronavirus discovered that the 99 who received AbbVie Inc.’s Kaletra, a cocktail of lopinavir and ritonavir, did not do any better than the 100 who obtained standard care.

New York state’s hospitalization rate has lowered to 13%, with 1,974 people hospitalized. However, the state is fighting to increase hospital beds and secure ventilators to face the expected peak in positive cases, Cuomo announced.

As of now, the state has 53,000 hospital beds available, and at the outbreak’s spike in the next coming weeks will require an estimated 110,000, Cuomo stated. The governor has issued an emergency order for all hospitals to expand the capacity of 50% to 100%. Messages are being delivered to retired health professionals begging them to return to service to help with the influx of COVID-19 patients. New York has also asked all insurance companies to send their medically trained health official to help.

Cuomo announced in his realization that he would also ask the Federal Emergency Management Agency to design four federal hospitals at the Javits Center with 250 beds each for a result of 1,000 beds.

The FEMA hospitals come fully equipped and staffed to ensure the quickest transitions. Last week, President Donald Trump Friday declared New York state a major disaster area and announced the federal government would support in helping to curb the pandemic.

New York is competing against other states and countries to receive medical supplies Like ventilators, masks, and gowns, he said, and that is initiating price gouging.

There are now 20,875 confirmed cases across the state. Of those new numbers, 87 are in Erie County, according to the governor’s office. More than half of all cases in the U.S fall in the state.

Coronavirus: How Addiction Groups around the Country are Adapting to Social Distancing

Addiction knows no bounds during this time of self-isolation, which, to some, maybe a death sentence waiting to happen. During this time of the pandemic and a growing number of lockdowns, many addicts are struggling to remain sober. Classes and groups have closed or discontinued in heavily infected areas. However, to combat addiction while facing a global pandemic is at the top of the Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics anonymous list.

Alcoholics Anonymous is known as an international organization of men and women who have had a drinking issue. It is nonprofessional, self-supporting, multiracial, apolitical, and accessible almost everywhere. There are no age or education requirements. Fellowship is open to anyone who wants to do something about his or her drinking problem.

The group focuses on THE TWELVE STEPS OF ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS A.A.’ sA.A.’s Twelve Steps are a group of policies, spiritual in their nature, which, if practiced as a way of life, can dismiss the obsession to drink and enable the person to become happily and usefully whole.

THE TWELVE TRADITIONS OF ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS (Short Form) A.A.’ sA.A.’s Twelve Traditions apply to the life of the Fellowship itself. They outline how A.A. maintains its unity and relates itself to the world about it, the way it lives and grows.

According to the General Service Office (G.S.O.) they have been receiving inquiries about how groups should respond to the COVID-19 (coronavirus). Many groups and members are concerned about health and safety issues and are looking for leadership on how to approach this question.

The General Service Office announced its current operation methods as a resource center for A.A. followers and groups who are looking for the shared experience of the Fellows; they would like everyone to remain calm and contact their local center.

However, guiding people on health issues is outside the range of the A.A. sharing that G.S.O- they suggest contacting the national, state/provincial, and local health authorities for proper information.

Currently, they do have extensive experience to share regarding how groups and members have begun to address this issue.

Around the country, some groups have ignored the messages of the C.D.C.- continuing to meet with huge groups. Some groups have considered making changes to customs at their meetings. For example: have included: avoiding shaking hands and handholding,g; making sure meeting hospitality tables are sanitary or suspending food hospitality for the time being.

Despite group decisions, they have announced as an organization that each individual is accountable for their own health decisions. Varies groups have considered contingency plans in case the group is momentarily unable to meet in person.

These plans have included: organizing contact lists and keeping in touch by phone, email, or social media; assembling the meetings by telephone or online.

Also, the organization is providing members information for the A.A. Online Intergroup (www.aa-intergroup.org) to serve as an additional helpful resource.

If a group isn’t operating its regular meetings, they may want to communicate this to local A.A. sources. G.S.O. has experienced inquiries about the A.A. events it coordinates throughout the year.

For more information, the organization would like people to visit www.aa.org regarding G.S.O./A.A.W.S. coordinated events.

Their announcement reads, “Please be assured that the health and safety of attendees is a priority. G.S.O. is closely monitoring relevant health advisories regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus). We hope this limited sharing is helpful.”
