Substance Abuse and Codependency Within Relationships

The sequence of events that lead to a relationship usually are pretty standard, a couple falls in love or lust, and it transforms their lives as a whole forever. The two become one, and their path begins. However, one of the pair starts to use and abuse drugs or alcohol. While the other person, so infatuated with their partner begins an unknown set of behaviors they believe will help the other. For example, one partner will start to lie or cover up the other’s action while intoxicated or high. Begin to make excuses regardless of the outcome of the situation, and in some circumstances, even enabling the other without even knowing it.

This is what many call codependency within a relationship, and it can lead to a mess, not for just the one abusing the drugs or alcohol but the one who believes they are helping. Many people are lost when it comes to treating or recognizing a codependency situation. However, a website is dedicated to bringing couples together and reuniting them with a sober life. Www.CouplesRehabs.org strives to deliver information across the U.S., allowing couples to find the best treatment option near them. Their highly trained staff will work tirelessly to help anyone in need, whether the pair is struggling with substance abuse or a co-dependency issue they vow to deliver the best customer service around.

Experts define codependency in two ways- the manipulator and the enabler: according to mental health experts, the manipulator is usually the person taking the substance and controls those around them. The abuser will unknowingly control the closet people to them to get what they want, whether that is money or drugs. They are aware they have full control of their partner and will use it to their advantage. Whereas the enabler is usually a passive person, whether they are doing it knowingly or unknowingly, enables or encourages the manipulator’s behavior.

This is generally seen as a compliant sort of behavior where the enabler gives up almost all of their own identity to satisfy the needs of the manipulator. People tend to enable due to low self-esteem, fear of being alone, and many other insecurities. Substance abuse is one of the main reasons people develop a co-dependency relationship, along with financial burden.

The scary cycle of codependency will continue until something happens to put an end to the relationship, mainly a death or hospitalization. Although experts promise that this can be fixed with the right treatment programs. Recovery is an individual journey but can be even stronger when both people in the relationship is fully supportive. It starts with one admitting to their actions, whether it is the user or the enabler both should seek the proper help.

Relationships are fragile already, now add a substance abuse issue. Many couples are afraid to take the first step; many blame the lack of information available. At www.Couplesrehabs.org, they hope they can deliver the quickest and most accurate data, which will allow anyone in a relationship struggling with addiction or co-dependency issue reach their goal of a sober life.

WeedMaps Announces Marijuana Pop-Up Museum In Beverly Hills

The famous Weedmaps, Los Angeles-based cannabis technology, and media company are announcing their plans to launch a new museum, which is aimed to open this summer. The company hopes that with the new museum, it will destigmatize marijuana.

“We’re at this point now where there is some cannabis normalization,” Weedmaps CEO Chris Beals announced during a news conference, “where they’re already starting to forget that there have been people who have been in jail (because of prohibition).”

The new facility, called The Weedmaps Museum of Weed, is said to be open Aug. 3 till Sept. 29 at 720 North Cahuenga Boulevard. The museum is set to take visitors on a chronological walk through history, from the first consumption of the cannabis plant to the “Reefer Madness” and “War on Drugs” eras, up to the present day legalization milestones.

“Frankly, it feels like we’re at an inflection point … where the outcome isn’t fully decided,” Beals noted.

Weedmaps also hopes to capture the real minutiae of the cannabis plant with an “interactive Plant Lab.” However, the exhibit will not be fully interactive, the museum will not allow any consumption of cannabis or CBD.

Just like other snapchattable exhibits, such as Museum of Ice Cream in San Francisco, the Weedmaps team worked hard to create a balance by incorporating culture and actual history like those dedicated to civil right movements.

According to Weedmaps, their team has been working on the multimillion-dollar exhibit for more than a year, noting that most of the time was spent securing the copyrights to art, photos, and videos. They were able to obtain Nancy Reagan’s “Just Say No” campaign from the 1980s and anti-weed film clips from the ’40s and ’50s.

Beals said social justice and advocacy are themes composed throughout the entire exhibit to capture every audience.

“[Legalization is] most definitely not a panacea for all of the social issues that have been associated with prohibition,” he added, highlighting stop-and-frisk policies and lifelong sentences for drug convictions. “I think there’s a bit of a myth that once you legalize cannabis that the disparate enforcement of cannabis laws disappears.”

The museum will be charging $35 and limited to people 18 years of age and older. Weedmaps installed a restriction to meet permitting and insurance requirements, saying that, “that was a good indicator that the stigma around cannabis continues.”

This isn’t the first museum pop-up of its kind. However, it will not join a handful of existing for-profit and non-profit cannabis museums that are open across America. If the Weedmaps museum is successful, they plan to expand their exhibit to other California Cities.

US Legalization of Marijuana is a ‘Threat to China’ According to Beijing

New reports from Beijing’s leading drug enforcement body claims that the recent legalization of marijuana in Canada and parts of the United States for a massive increase in the number of drugs being smuggled into the country, declaring it a “new threat to China.”

During a press conference in Beijing Monday, Liu Yuejin, deputy director of the China National Narcotics Control Commission, announced that the number of marijuana users in China grew by more than 25% in 2018, that’s about 24,000 people.

“In two years, we have found increasing cannabis trafficked from North America to China,” claimed, Liu Yuejin, deputy director of the China National Narcotics Control Commission, at a press conference on Monday June 17, however he did point out that there are “few cannabis abusers in China” compared to the total population.

Liu reported that China had intercepted 115 known packages sent through international postal facilities. The boxes contained f “55 kilograms (1940 ounces) of marijuana and other cannabis products” last year.

Authorities have confirmed that the suspects found in connection with the cannabis were international students or students who have flown home from studying or working aboard. Lui claims that most of the drugs had been transported through their international express delivery, although he did not clarify how many of the packages came from North America.

As a result, China punished those caught smuggling or trafficking drugs, including foreigners. Those found with more than 50 grams (1.76 ounces) of a controlled substance can face the death penalty.

China has been known for its harsh punishments and regulation of drugs, and in recent years, it has increased due to accusations of producing and providing fentanyl to America. The allegations have caught the attention of many marijuana advocates and politicians, however, the recent marijuana legalization movement in North America is only starting to skyrocket.

April, the Chinese government declared that it would crack down on fentanyl-related substances. Fentanyl is known to be 50 to 100 times more powerful than morphine and 30 to 50 times more potent than heroin. According to the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention, it was linked to one in four overdose deaths in America in 2018.

Plan Parenthood Building in Alabama is Set To Open in November Despite The New Law

Full steam ahead for the new Plan Parenthood building in Alabama, despite the new abortion law. The organization is continually fighting the new law, deeming it unconstitutional.

The new building will be located off the interstate in downtown Birmingham, the 10,000-square-foot facility is just steel framing at the moment, but workers are installing wiring and heating. According to Planned Parent, the new structure will be complete in November, around the same time the new state law could take effect unless blocked by courts.

“We are a doctor that Birmingham has counted on for decades, and we are committed to continuing to provide that care,” announced Barbara Ann Luttrell, a spokeswoman for the Atlanta-based Planned Parenthood Southeast.

Work began back in January and is proceeding regardless of the Republican-controlled Legislature’s passage of a near-ban on abortion. Gov. Kay Ivey approved the law in May, deeming it the most restrictive anti-abortion measure ever passed in the United States since Roe v. Wade was settled in 1973.

The “Human Life Protection Act” bans all abortions in the state except when “abortion is necessary to prevent a serious health risk” to the woman, according to the bill. The law would criminalize women who got the procedure as a Class A felony, punishable by up to 99 years in prison for doctors. They reclassified Attempted abortions as a Class C felony penalty, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

The new legislation will give no exceptions for victims of rape or incest. Many other bills like this one have passed in the recent months by Republican-controlled states.

Two organizations that are heavily involved have filed suits at the end of Mat to challenge the ban; however, no court date has been set. The American Civil Liberties Union and Planned Parenthood are hoping that through public stance and state agencies, the block will be in place.

Alabama has always been in favor of banning abortions, and many of the opponents strive to convince the Alabama Department of Public Health to deny a license for the new clinic.

Planned Parenthood believes courts will block the new law by the opening of the new clinic, despite the new law the new facility will offer birth control, cancer testing, and screenings for sexually transmitted diseases.

Green Growth CBD Brands Announces 70 shops in Brookfield Mall Deal

American Mall shopping has seemed to be fading away due to companies like Amazon and other major instant shipping companies. However, an Ohio-based marijuana company Green Growth Brands announced Monday that it would open more than 70 in-store shops selling products infused with cannabidiol, or more commonly known as CBD. The stores will open at Brookfield Properties’ U.S. malls this year, putting the properties at 280 locations by the end of 2019.

This announcement is following a statement given by the most significant mall owner in American, Simon Property Group, in February that said it was partnering with GGB to open 108 locations selling CBD products this year at Simon’s U.S. centers. Someone, those center include the Roosevelt Field Mall in New York and The Galleria in Houston.

“We know that consumers prefer to buy personal care and beauty products from physical stores, and this partnership will allow us access to millions of consumers,” GGB CEO Peter Horvath noted during a press conference.

According to Brookfield’s portfolio, GGB has seven shops with more than 160 properties across America. The CBD company has a brand of stores known as the Seventh Sense, which already sells products like CBD-infused muscle balm, bath salts, and lip scrub. Since the boom of the industry they aim to launch a new chain called Green Lily that would retail things such as CBD-infused personal-care products, according to GGB, four Green Lily Stores will be opening at the Brookfield’s properties, shortly.

According to cannabis-focused research firm Brightfield Group,
The CBD industry is flourishing and has the potential to reach a $22 billion business by 2022.

Since December 2018 Congress has legalized CBD derived by hemp. However, the FDA has banned any company from adding the compound to food or beverages. Despite the FDA warning, cannabis has been added to makeup, tea, pet treats, and soft drinks.

Other significant chains including, Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid and specialty retailers GNC and Vitamin Shoppe have added CBD products to stores multiple states, “The High End,” a luxury boutique located in Beverly Hills California has started selling exclusive vaporizer pens and pastilles.

Mall owners are now following the Cannabis trend, as they are losing tents fast with waves of closure from stores like Payless ShoeSource, Gap, Charlotte Russe and Dressbarn leaving the malls empty. Traffic has decreased dramatically, and the only thing is driving peoples to the malls are food courts and the movie theaters. Brookfield, Simon and other owners are hoping that the new CBD chains of tenants will drive new and young consumers, boosting morale and offering a unique experience.

“Curation of our shopping centers is fundamental to our ongoing evolution,” announced Sandeep Mathrani, CEO of Brookfield Properties’ retail division. “It is our job to bring in retail offerings and experiences that today’s consumer desires, and this includes GGB’s CBD products.”

U.S. Embassies Not Approved to Fly Pride Flag on Flagpoles During June

During the month of Pride, the Trump administrative is rejecting any request from the U.S. embassies to fly the colorful pride flag on embassy flagpoles during June, according to three American diplomats.

Among those who have requested permission from the Trump’s State Department to fly the pride flag on their flagpoles are U.S. embassies in Israel, Germany, Brazil, and Latvia, but all have been denied.

However, the flag is allowed to be flown elsewhere on embassy grounds, which include the inside and outside walls. The Trump administration has announced a campaign to decriminalize homosexuality overseas this coming month on Twitter, tweeting,” celebrate LGBT Pride Month and recognize the outstanding contributions LGBT people have made.”

Brian Bulatao, the associate of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and his office of the states department undersecretary management, were responsible for most of the rejected request. The State Department requires embassies that want to fly any flag on their flagpoles to obtain approval from Washington.

During the Obama administration, the U.S. government granted blanket approval for embassies to hang their flag during the month of June. However, this year U.S. diplomats claim that embassies were told they were allowed to display the pride flag in other places, including inside the embassies, yet the specific request to fly the flag must be approved. No approvals have been made yet, and no further information has been disclosed.

“The President’s recognition of Pride Month and his tweet encouraging our decriminalization campaign gives me even more pride to once again march in the Berlin Pride parade, hang a huge banner on the side of the Embassy recognizing our pride, host multiple events at the Embassy and the residence, and fly the gay pride flag,” Grenell noted Friday in a interview with NBC News.

This weekend is L.A. Pride, and the streets of Melrose will be filled with colorful floats, and thousands will be in attendance. The pride event itself is a two-day event which holds a stage and other fun activities that all share the message of love and acceptance. The scene is filled with people of all color and ages, with Santa Monica Blvd shut down due to the massive crowds and fleet of company-sponsored floats all with there to celebrate Pride 2019.
