Army Vet Who Planned ‘Mass Casualties,’ in the Los Angeles Area Has Been Arrested

Federal prosecutors have captured a U.S. Army veteran with experience fighting in Afghanistan who had been conspiring to stage a terrorist attack at a planned white supremacist rally, with the intentions of inflicting thousands of deaths in the Los Angeles area.

The suspect has been identified as Mark Steven Domingo, 26 and was arrested last Friday after receiving what he believed was a live bomb that he had planned to detonate at a Long Beach rally on Sunday. The weapon was delivered to Domingo by an undercover federal officer.

According to the new reports, Domingo is being charged with providing explosive materials to assist in a planned terrorist attack.

Police had confirmed that Domingo had planned to attack several sites targeting Jews, police officers and churches before he made his way to the Long Beach rally.

“America needs another Vegas event … something to kick off civil unrest,” he wrote on March 3 on his social media.

He also noted that he had a deep interest in recreating the March 15 mass shootings at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, in which 50 people were killed. “There must be retribution,” he added, according to the reports.

Domingo served in Afghanistan between September 2012 and January 2013. Police highlighted that the suspect had purchased 8 pounds of 3-inch nails for the IED, saying “they would be long enough to penetrate the human body and puncture internal organs,” according to the undercover cop in charge of the case.

During the initial exchange, the affidavit dug deep for the plans and expressed to Domingo that he didn’t want to get caught.

“You plan to go and get caught. That’s your plan,” the informant allegedly stated. Domingo  replied, “Martyrdom, bro.”

The suspect was taken into federal custody Friday night as Domingo,  the FBI informant and the undercover officer were conducting surveillance at the Long Beach Park before the attack.

“HerpChella”

Over the last two weekends music fans flocked to the desert to enjoy the famous Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival, almost 250,000 people, filled the Empire Polo Club in Indio California.

The festival spans across two weekends with acts like Arianna Grande and Kid Cudi featuring massive sculptures of art and different food trucks that leave the wallet empty. However, food and music isn’t the only thing around Coachella, apparently, a California STD treatment website reported a sharp increase in patients seeking herpes treatment after the festival and during.

HerpAlert, one of the leading applications that allow patients to get involved with doctors for safe, personal, and rapid diagnosis and treatment, with the primary complaint of Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV), reported that their records logged 250 cases per day in Coachella area across the two weekends of the event.

HerpAlert’s has been in business for two years now, with medical experts issuing prescriptions to pharmacies after people submit photos of their infected areas, for medical doctors to review. The turnaround time for their test is and usually takes only two hours.

The company reported that the massive increase of people looking for prescriptions for herpes since Day 1 at the festival. A total 1,105 cases were reported in Indio, Palm Desert and Coachella Valley — and also L.A., Orange, and San Diego counties, where most of the festival-goers live.

HerpAlert claims that they usually handle 12 cases a day in Southern Cali, however within the first two days of Coachella they served almost 300 patients. The last skyrocket the company saw was during the 2018 Oscars weekend when they received 60 cases a day.

Medical experts caution people attending Stage Coach this upcoming weekend.

Marijuana Revenue and Regulation Act: The “420 Bill”

Marijuana may become federally legal thanks to a new bill that would legalize the plant and regulate it like alcohol. The new bill was introduced by Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden of Oregon. According to the new bill, titled the Marijuana Revenue and Regulation Act has been given the surname of S. 420 by Wyden and is a companion measure to H.R. 420, which was initially introduced in the House of Representatives by fellow Oregon Democrat Rep. Earl Blumenauer back in March.

A spokesperson for the Senate Finance Committee announced that the new bill aims to “responsibly legalize, tax, and regulate marijuana at the federal level,” according to multiple reports. During a press conference on Friday Wyden explained that ” the time is now for marijuana reform at the national level.”

“The federal prohibition of marijuana is wrong, plain and simple. Too many lives have been wasted, and too many economic opportunities have been missed,” Wyden declared. “It’s time Congress makes the changes Oregonians and Americans across the country are demanding.”

Blumenauer couldn’t agree more and highlights that voters’ opinions on cannabis have drastically changed and that leaders in Congress should follow.

“Oregon has been and continues to be a leader in commonsense marijuana policies, and the federal government must catch up,” Blumenauer explained. “The American people have elected the most pro-cannabis Congress in American history, and significant pieces of legislation are being introduced. The House is doing its work, and with the help of Senator Wyden’s leadership in the Senate, we will break through.”

The new bill is part of a package of laws that are aimed to reform federal cannabis policy, put in place by Wyden and Blumenauer as the Path to Marijuana Reform. Smaller measure in the pact includes the Small Business Tax Equity Act and the Responsibly Addressing the Marijuana Policy Gap Act. The point behind the Small Business Tax Equity Act is to repeal provisions of the tax code that deny cannabis business the right to take the fair tax deductions as would any company in other industries.

The Responsibly Addressing the Marijuana Policy Gap Act would diminish any federal criminal penalties and civil assets forfeiture for individuals and business complying with the states law. Under the new bill, it would allow marijuana businesses the legal right to access banking, bankruptcy protection, marijuana research, and advertising. In addition to the new policies, the bill includes an expungement process for some marijuana convictions, the approval for some financial aid and even placement within federal housing.

Lastly, the new bill would give all veterans legal access to medical marijuana programs in any state and will protect Native Americans from prosecution under federal marijuana laws.

Website Releases New State Information Page Discussing Alaska Couples Drug Rehab Programs

The key to a healthy relationship is not found while using drugs, and many couples find it hard to achieve sobriety. Couples who abuse drugs and alcohol find it harder to maintain honesty and a clean relationship. Using can lead to fighting and fall into a hole of the emotional distance between each other while couples struggle to stay clean and find treatment the stress of everyday life and the ever-growing distance between the pair can cause them to use, even more, sending each into a never-ending spiral.

Luckily, a website has recognized the difficulties couples face with finding the proper program. For a while, the thought of treating two people together in rehab was taboo and deemed unsuccessful but recent studies have shown a more positive outcome for the future of couples drug rehab.

Couplesrehabs.org has published a resource page that highlights the steps and programs that are available to both people struggling with an addiction. Alaska Couples rehab centers provide specialized care and rehab for married couples as well as cohabitating couples who are fighting with substance abuse problems.

Many couples in Alaska are very limited to the programs available in their surrounding areas, but the staff at couplesrehab.org hopes to aid people in need of treatment. Their hotline is available 24/7 to answer any questions or concerns anyone might have. Couples that are needed can find detailed information that explains the processes of drug rehab, to ease the stress and anxiety most people have before entering a program.

Usually, people who are addicted to drugs or alcohol have trouble with setting boundaries, expressing feelings, making decisions, parenting, and handling finances. Couples drug rehab provides education, skills, training, and counseling to help couples obtain improved ways of handling these difficulties.

Regardless if one partner has an addiction, the other partner can benefit from an Alaska couples drug rehab program by learning to control specific triggers and helping the other stay sober. Whether one or both partners require addiction treatment, specialized couples addiction treatment explains the tools needed to overcome obstacles, prevent relapse, and reach long-term recovery.

Couplesrehab.org hopes that through educating couples with their new resource page, they will achieve long-lasting recovery, and a healthier, happier, and drug-free relationship.

The glamorous Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival began last weekend and is going into its second weekend, which means a lot of drugs and alcohol to go around, but for people not interested in getting wasted or high, they are not alone.

Within the 20 years of Coachella’s existence, Soberchella a small but rapidly growing sober community at the festival- has been around for 10 of the last. This year will mark the 10th anniversary.

The star-filled line up includes performances by Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, Janelle MonĂ¡e, 1975, Kid Cudi, Khalid, Aphex Twin, Weezer, and more.

The community known as Soberchella was co-founded by Joseph G. ten years ago along with his partners. They usually lead the meetings but this year will pass the torch to a group of volunteers to carry on Soberchella’s mission. They hope to provide sober support and fellowship for festivalgoers.

“People are so grateful to find us before they arrive,” Joey W of Los Angeles, a new member of this years Soberchella team, this will be her third year at Soberchella.

“We have a wide variety of Soberchellians, from 70-year-old dancing hippies with 90 days of sobriety who come back a year later still sober, to sober mothers and daughters, ex-gang members, stagehands, and Coachella food servers—you name it,” she continued. “People with more than two decades of sobriety down to two days with new perfect strangers and repeat friends, with one thing in common—to have fun and stay sober at Coachella.”

Joey W is now ten years sober and believes it is her duty to get the sober community back together. “It was starting to stagger, and I just want to revitalize it and try and make it thrive into the next decade,” she stated.

Joey W started by contacting outreach efforts and getting the word out to meetings and support groups worldwide. “We wanted to beef up the outreach and let AA/NA and all other 12-step programs know we’re here,” she explained.

Soberchella is usually known for its noon meetings, but the team announced that there would be additional meetings at multiple locations throughout the festival. If people are stilling struggling to attend a meeting they are also providing information on meetings and support outside the festival.

“We also have helped people connect out-of-town travelers with other sober people for meetings in Vegas, LA, and the desert,” claims Joey W. “One of our Soberchellians’ wife got sick, and he gifted his tickets to another member on our GroupMe Chain who wasn’t able to afford tickets. And they had never met in person. How cool is that?”

She” hopes it has helped someone stay sober another day.”

Soberchella has one shared goal: to listen to good music, have a good time, and to do it all while maintaining sobriety. Visit Soberchella.com.

New Study Shows Fentanyl Deaths up 122% in West Virginia

A new report from the West Virginia University discovered that fentanyl deaths are up 122% in the state.

According to the researchers at the college, the study took an in-depth look into the use of the powerful synthetic opioid Tuesday. They examined all deaths related to drugs in West Virginia between 2005 to 2017 to come up with their total.

The report notes, In 2017, West Virginia led the nation in fentanyl overdose death and according to the federal Centers For Disease Control and Prevention statistics has the highest per capita rate of overdose deaths in the country.

The drug is hazardous because of the way it is mixed into other powerful drugs such as heroin or counterfeit prescription pill without the user knowing. Fentanyl produces a quick and intense high with such a small dose that it is usually indicated which in many cases leads to overdose and deaths.

However, Cabell County’s EMS Director Gordon Merry reports that overdose numbers went down in 2018 and are still going down this year. He gives credit to a multiple of different factors including the Quick Response Team and the use of Narcan, an overdose reversal.

China has been accused for years of being the main dupper of the synthetic formula due to the constant changing of formulas manufacturers would use, allowing them to manipulate the system.

Just last month, China banned all forms of the opioid fentanyl, following a promise President Xi Jinping made to President Donald Trump last year.

More Men Are Turning to CBD as an Alternative Treatment to Prostate Cancer

In America, men have Prostate cancer so commonly that it is the second most prevalent form of cancer right behind skin cancer. The American Cancer Society reports that there were over 164,000 new cases in 2018, and 29,430 men died from the disease.

Around 14% of men will be diagnosed with the disease during their lifetime. Since prostate cancer is the second most fatal cancer after lung cancer approximately 2.6% of men diagnosed with cancer will die from it.

Despite the treatments already available to treat the conditions, the study of CBD and cancer cells have suggested that it not only slows down the growth of cancer cells but could kill prostate cancer cells – yet this is not verified through a clinical trial.

According to an early study conducted in 2006, scientist examined the impact of THC on nine subjects with a specific type of brain tumor known as glioblastoma multiforme. The standard life expectancy of these patients was 24 weeks; however, the researchers determined that THC slowed down the growth of the tumor cells in vitro, and also decreased the number of tumor cells in two of the subjects.

Prostate cancer and marijuana have been studied for years; in 2012 direct results in lab tests on animals have led to the publishing of an essential paper in 2012. The article cited a 2005 study that discussed how prostate cancer cells had increased expression for cannabinoid receptors, explaining that the cells may be vulnerable to active therapeutic cannabis compounds.

At the moment doctors can treat localized prostate cancer with an attempt to cure. Most medical doctors will locate and treat the tumor with radical surgery, external radiation therapy, radiation seeds, cryotherapy or laser therapy. However, Metastatic cancer cannot be cured, yet can be controlled for years. When treatment is no longer working, many men are referred to Chemotherapy.

For many years now the use of cannabis among chemo patients has skyrocketed because of the quick and positive effects. Patients continuously report that the use of marijuana eases the side effects that come along with the chemotherapy. New research has dived into what cannabinoids are capable of, showing how it may slow or more importantly all together kill the progression of cancer cells.

Although treatments that are currently being used to treat localized prostate cancer are deemed reliable, an alarming number of men are turning to CBD as a natural alternative, with the intention of staying away from the harmful side of effects of pharmaceutical medications.

However, since marijuana remains federally illegal, clinical trials and an inherent lack of funding have slowed the research on marijuana/CBD and prostate cancer.

After Unfounded Accusations Los Osos High School Band Director Commits Suicide

The death of a longtime band director at Rancho Cucamonga’s Los Osos High School has brought forth mixed emotions of sadness and anger. The campus continues to struggle with the suicide Dr. Sam Andress.

The former director of the marching band, as well as the jazz band, at the Rancho Cucamonga school, was accused on Tuesday after a parent called the school resource officer with an accusation that Andress might have been engaging in an online relationship with a minor.

“They did an investigation into these allegations, and they determined there was an online conversation on an internet dating site, however, the preliminary investigation showed them that Mr. Andress believed he was communicating with an adult, therefore there was no crime that occurred,” explained Cindy Bachman of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

As the investigation was carried out, the school informed the band director of what was taking place, early Wednesday he announced his resignation and later that day was found dead at his home.

“The coroner responded and determined there was no foul play involved and ruled the death as a suicide,” Bachman said.

A statement was given by the Rancho Cucamonga school district superintendent saying: His passing has created a sense of inconsolable loss – especially within the band community and for staff members who knew and worked with him.”

The quick response of the band director raises many questions among the Rancho community, yet the sheriff’s department considers the case closed.

A Private Funeral in LA held by Nipsey Hussle’s Family and Friends

One person is dead, and three others are wounded in Los Angelos blocks away from the funeral of the late Nipsey Hussle. The authorities have announced that there seems to be no connection with the shooting and the procession.

Just after 6 pm, a shooting occurred a few streets down from where the main entrance of the funeral was located. The 25-mile procession route had gathered the attention of hundreds and crowds began to grow every hour. According to the LA Times, the gunfire went off in the Watts neighboorhood after the procession passed.

Thursday evening Chief Michel Moore tweeted, “We must stop this senseless violence,” he said. Police, confirmed the victims to be three black males and one black female ranging in ages from 30-50.

The beautiful “Celebration of Life” memorial service at Staples Center, was organized by Nipsey’s family and friends to honor the late rapper. Superstars and speakers took to the stage and celebrated the life and gifts given by the Grammy-nominated musician, who was shot and killed, March at age 33.

Friday a small gathering of Nipsey Hussle’s family and friends attending a private funeral to honor and remember the rapper in his beloved home town of LA. Hussle was laid to rest during an afternoon service at the Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills.

According to many of the elite and famous, the large and breathtaking cemetery that lays across northern Los Angles right in the middle of Griffith Park and Burbank is the final stop for most Hollywood royalty, including Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds, Bette Davis, Lucille Ball, Liberace, and David Carradine.

Ermias Asghedom, the birth name of Nipsey Hussle was celebrated for a finale time with a small ceremony- much lower than the 20,000 that gathered the day before. His casket draped in the flag of his father’s native country, Eritrea in East Africa during the 25- mile finale tour of the city the night before.

Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson, a friend of Hussle, was the main push that led to the Los Angeles City Council to vote unanimously to rename the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue “Nipsey Hussle Square.”

“His work and impact will never be forgotten, and I am grateful to do a small part to ensure the marathon continues,” Harris-Dawson announced in a heartfelt statement.

That intersection is home to Hussle’s clothing store, and will forever be the place that Nipsey stood strong until he was shot down on the afternoon of March 31. According to recent reports, Eric R. Holder Jr., who has been charged with killing Hussle, has pleaded not guilty.

Sobriety, It’s Harder Than Quitting: A Deep Dive into Some of the Many Life Changes That Accompany Sobriety.

Giving up alcohol and substances isn’t as easy as it sounds. Quitting a job, quitting a class, or a sport you hate is easy. Yet quitting alcohol or drugs will be one of the toughest things you’ll ever do. It is a continuous fight in an uphill battle.

In this article, we’ll examine some of the most common “give-ups” that occurs when a person chooses to become sober, and with that, get their life on track.

LETTING GO:  FAMILY & FRIENDS

Self-discipline plays a huge role in being sober. Having the will to either put yourself at a distance or totally letting go of the people who may have contributed or influenced your attitude before.

As hard as it is, we sometimes need to remove ourselves from our closest friends and families who may still use alcohol or drugs. Being your sober-self is the most important thing right now and those who you thought as “caring friends or families” may be your worst nightmare and just drag you down.

Being able to distance yourself or let go of people who are negative influences is imperative to your continued sobriety. It may be hard in the beginning but in the long run, you must always prioritize yourself.

SAYING GOODBYE: OLD HAUNTS

Undoubtedly, friends and families are not the only parts of your life that needs to be given up to continue your journey on being sober.

Previous stomping grounds such as clubs, restaurants, and bars are very hard to go to while refraining to get a drink. You should always be aware that old stomping grounds, just like old friends, can act as a trigger. Be smart about the places you visit and return to.

BIDDING FAREWELL

Being sober doesn’t mean your safe despite conquering your old ways. Yes, you have surpassed that uphill battle and every day you pull further and further away from that addiction.

Are New Jersey Cops Ready for Legal Marijuana?

The battle within New Jersey lawmakers on whether to legalize marijuana has created a rift, almost half of the states local police departments are said to lack officers who are specially trained to spot drivers under the influence of marijuana, reported the states highest law officials.

According to Attorney General Gurbir Grewal his department which includes the State Police is consistently training officers, ” “drug recognition experts,” commonly referred to as DREs.

“We have been anticipating the Legislature and the governor acting on some form of legalization for some time, so we have been ramping up our efforts to increase the number of DREs,” he said in an announcement to the state assembly on Wednesday.

He explained how the state has around 520 law enforcement officials trained as DREs, up from about 400 compared to last year. Grewal also told the group that his department is hoping to educate 100 new and expert DREs each year.

Since the beginning of Gov. Phil Murphy campaign, he has set forth to legalize cannabis; however, the efforts of lawmakers to push a vote through the state legislature last month fell apart within the final seconds. State leaders are confident that a recreational marijuana bill will pass, although they have to convince the majority of their colleagues to approve a controversial measure.

At the moment, just over 200 of New Jersey’s more than 400 local police departments have confirmed that they all have their drug recognition experts. According to a statement made by the attorney general, the New Jersey State Police, which helps out every other local city department when needed- is expected to train every one of its 1,400 road troopers in drug recognition.

“From our perspective, we’ll be ready,” Grewal believed. “We’re increasing training, trying to offer more classes. But it’s an intensive program.”

The new training will consist of two weeks of course work and a solid week of outdoor field training, with some test to ensure the troopers have retained the information.

Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle Killer Identified and Arrested

Los Angeles Police have captured the male suspect involved in the fatal shooting of Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle. The suspect was found early Tuesday afternoon just hours after the Los Angeles police chief publically appeared in front of a sea of TV news cameras and asked the accused killer to surrender.

According to the police reports, the suspect has been identified as Eric Holder, 29, and was detained in the L.A. suburb of Bellflower, minutes after authorities recognized him and arrested him without incident.

The authorities utilized the surveillance video and social media post by witnesses to help identify the 29-year-old Holder as the alleged gunman who gunned downed Hussle and two other men last Sunday late afternoon in front of the rapper’s clothing store located in south Los Angeles.

Before his arrest, Moore portrayed Holder as “a man who is a substantial risk to public safety and willing to use violence.” He also added that although Holder and Hussle were involved with gangs, the killing is believed to have stemmed from a personal disagreement between the two.

“It appears to be a personal matter between the two of them,” said Moore, who refused to describe the specifics of the dispute between the two men.

Although he did mention that the security cameras from nearby businesses captured the shooting as it happened around 3:20 p.m. on Sunday.

According to the Cheif, the witnesses told the police that Holder and Hussle, 33 with the birth name Ermias Asghedom, were both raised in the neighboorhood he was killed in. The two men got into a heated argument in front of his clothing store- The Marathon– which leads to Holder leaving the store, but later returning with a handgun. He then proceeded to shoot Hussle at close range along with the other two men who have not been identified.

The reports from the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office said that the rapper was shot multiple times in the head and the torso.

Holder ran from the scene and fled to a 2016 white Chevrolet Cruze driven by a female who has not been identified. The two sped away abandoning the vehicle nearby.

“We want the public to help us identify and apprehend Mr. Holder,” Moore said. “Armed with a handgun, this senseless murder, this expression of violence represents that this is a man who is a substantial risk to public safety and willing to use violence and we want to see that stopped.”

“I ask him to surrender, to find a local law enforcement agency, to go to a station and surrender and to defend himself as he feels appropriate, but to stop this from continuing,” Moore concluded before they captured Holder.

Woman Who Was Declared Brain Dead for Three Months Gives Birth at 32 Weeks

Well-known international sportswomen Catarina Sequeira had been pronounced brain dead following an acute asthma attack at her house. Weeks later, her baby named Salvador, was born and is being cared for at a neonatal hospital. She was 32 weeks pregnant at the time of birth.

Reports confirm this is the second known case in Portugal of a baby born to a mother that was declared brain dead. The beloved canoeist who had represented her country had asthma since she was a little girl.

Her condition resulted in her having an asthma attack when she was 19 weeks pregnant. She was induced into a coma, although despite the doctor’s efforts her health decreased quickly and within days she was pronounced brain dead on December 26.

According to the reports, she was on a ventilator for 56 days to provide the baby with the nutrients she needed to survive in her womb.

Medical experts mentioned that the decision had been put off till Friday, for the mother to reach 32 weeks gestation, but her respiratory condition had deteriorated, which caused them to perform a Caesarean section.

The doctors explained that Thirty-two weeks is the point where babies are considered to have a high probability of survival. According to the head of the hospital’s ethics committee, Filipe Almeida, the decision to keep the baby alive was made by the family and the fact that she had never exited Portugal’s presumed-consent organ donation law.

“Being a donor is not just about being in a position to donate a liver or heart or lung, but also being in a position to give yourself so a child can live,” he explained. “And no-one has the right to interrupt the mother’s decision process,” he told the Observador website.

The newborn weighed in at 3.75 lbs and is said to remain in the hospital for three weeks to ensure the best chances of survival.

According to medical reports, in 2016 a baby, Lourenço, was born in Lisbon. He survived for 15 weeks in his dead mother’s womb.
