“HerpChella”

Over the last two weekends music fans flocked to the desert to enjoy the famous Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival, almost 250,000 people, filled the Empire Polo Club in Indio California.

The festival spans across two weekends with acts like Arianna Grande and Kid Cudi featuring massive sculptures of art and different food trucks that leave the wallet empty. However, food and music isn’t the only thing around Coachella, apparently, a California STD treatment website reported a sharp increase in patients seeking herpes treatment after the festival and during.

HerpAlert, one of the leading applications that allow patients to get involved with doctors for safe, personal, and rapid diagnosis and treatment, with the primary complaint of Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV), reported that their records logged 250 cases per day in Coachella area across the two weekends of the event.

HerpAlert’s has been in business for two years now, with medical experts issuing prescriptions to pharmacies after people submit photos of their infected areas, for medical doctors to review. The turnaround time for their test is and usually takes only two hours.

The company reported that the massive increase of people looking for prescriptions for herpes since Day 1 at the festival. A total 1,105 cases were reported in Indio, Palm Desert and Coachella Valley — and also L.A., Orange, and San Diego counties, where most of the festival-goers live.

HerpAlert claims that they usually handle 12 cases a day in Southern Cali, however within the first two days of Coachella they served almost 300 patients. The last skyrocket the company saw was during the 2018 Oscars weekend when they received 60 cases a day.

Medical experts caution people attending Stage Coach this upcoming weekend.
