Los Angeles Police have captured the male suspect involved in the fatal shooting of Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle. The suspect was found early Tuesday afternoon just hours after the Los Angeles police chief publically appeared in front of a sea of TV news cameras and asked the accused killer to surrender.
According to the police reports, the suspect has been identified as Eric Holder, 29, and was detained in the L.A. suburb of Bellflower, minutes after authorities recognized him and arrested him without incident.
The authorities utilized the surveillance video and social media post by witnesses to help identify the 29-year-old Holder as the alleged gunman who gunned downed Hussle and two other men last Sunday late afternoon in front of the rapper’s clothing store located in south Los Angeles.
Before his arrest, Moore portrayed Holder as “a man who is a substantial risk to public safety and willing to use violence.” He also added that although Holder and Hussle were involved with gangs, the killing is believed to have stemmed from a personal disagreement between the two.
“It appears to be a personal matter between the two of them,” said Moore, who refused to describe the specifics of the dispute between the two men.
Although he did mention that the security cameras from nearby businesses captured the shooting as it happened around 3:20 p.m. on Sunday.
According to the Cheif, the witnesses told the police that Holder and Hussle, 33 with the birth name Ermias Asghedom, were both raised in the neighboorhood he was killed in. The two men got into a heated argument in front of his clothing store- The Marathon– which leads to Holder leaving the store, but later returning with a handgun. He then proceeded to shoot Hussle at close range along with the other two men who have not been identified.
The reports from the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office said that the rapper was shot multiple times in the head and the torso.
Holder ran from the scene and fled to a 2016 white Chevrolet Cruze driven by a female who has not been identified. The two sped away abandoning the vehicle nearby.
“We want the public to help us identify and apprehend Mr. Holder,” Moore said. “Armed with a handgun, this senseless murder, this expression of violence represents that this is a man who is a substantial risk to public safety and willing to use violence and we want to see that stopped.”
“I ask him to surrender, to find a local law enforcement agency, to go to a station and surrender and to defend himself as he feels appropriate, but to stop this from continuing,” Moore concluded before they captured Holder.
